My Doctor's Report on my Foot.

Dear Friends

I went to my Orthopedic Surgeon yesterday - his Assisatant Cindy - and come to find out I broke the most important bone in your whole foot - it is called TALUS.  This is the bone that attaches your foot to your lower leg and holds your ankle in place. This is my right foot.  I thought it was awfully funny that that area of my ankle/foot area was all swollen up and it hurts to touch it.  The swelling has gone down quite a bit which I am so thankful for but it is still swollen yet a little bit and it still hurts when you touch it.

My family doctor's office - his one nurse - she told me that I had Micro Fractures in my foot and I don't.  She did not say one word to me about the Talus Bone being broken so I was walking on a broken foot and thank goodness I had my walking boot on so that helped from getting it worse.

She wanted to put a cast on my foot and I came right out and I told her NO!  I have to be able to walk to my bathroom.  She said that I could be a bunny rabbit and hop and use my walker so I could hop around - I came right out and I told her NO - I have fractures in my back and that her Boss - My Orthopedic Surgeon does not want me to be hopping at all, he does not want me to use crutches either.  All of this is on the computer - did she have her IPAD with her - NO!  I do not know where her mind was at but it was not there at all.  She got mad at me because I refused a cast...tooo bad.  She does not have my bone condition and she never has had a broken bone.  Now get this - she wanted me to hop using my walker right - well she did not want me to use a Roll A Bout  which is a Knee Scooter - cause she was afraid that I was going to get another stress fracture in my left foot which is my good foot.  I swear she was on drugs or something - geesh!  Her mind was out in space somewhere.  I was so dang mad at her and I did started to cry.  I could not wait til I got out of there.  I wish I had my regular Orthopedic Surgeon but I didn't.

The Talus Bone is lined up with the bone in my lower leg so that is good and it is only broke in one place and that is it.  I am so very thankful for these two things.

I am in a walking boot and I went to a Oxygen place and got me a Knee Scooter...hopefully my insurance will pay for it.  I am renting it.  First we went to a James Medical Supply place and believe it or not they were completely out of them and they were waiting on a shipment to come in.  Why didn't they order them before they ran out.  I am using a Knee Scooter to get around - My knee or my hip cannot take the strain of putting weight on my knee via the knee scooter - I even put a thick towel and a pillow but it kills my hip though so guess what I am doing - I am sitting down on it and getting around that way...I am not putting any weight on my bad foot, and I am putting very little weight on my good foot - just enough to push myself around.  The only problem that I have is that I have to walk about 6 steps to get to my bathroom but that is it.  My bathroom is off of my bedroom so there is very little room to get my scooter clear into the bathroom so I have to use my walker and walk into my bathroom...I am still not putting any weight on my bad foot when I am doing that.  I am being real careful with my left foot.

We went to Red Lobster for lunch and it was good.  I love their biscuits.  That was the highlight of my day eating at Red Lobster.

Yesterday late afternoon after I got home, I turned my cell phone off, and I took a 2 hour nap and put my feet up and when I woked up I felt better.  I was hurting and very tired before I took my nap.  I went to bed early last night.

I go back to my Orthopedic Surgeon's Assistant Cindy in 5 weeks.  Hopefully by than the Talus Bone will be either healed up or partially healed up.  As long as it is healing I don't care how long it takes.

I am not sure what I'm going to do today...I am still tired.  I may end up taking a nap.

Everyone have a good day or evening....

God Bless You
Love & Prayers

  2. I hope that bone heals soon. After my knee replacement last summer, I know what it is like to have miserable walking!

  4. Sorry to hear about your Talus Bone, I hope you can manage to stay off it as much as possible and that it is not causing you any pain. Glad you got a scooter so you can keep it up. Sounds like it is a good time for you to sit back, relax and just stitch and read!
