100_9212 - Rocky Mountain Christmas by Marty Bell - 10-17-2014

Rocky Mountain Christmas by Marty Bell.  I am almost done stitching the bottom half
of this Mansion.  I am going to continue to go across my three rows all the way to the end of Page 6 and than I will go back and do the next three rows on Page 5 and continue going all the way across to the end of Page 6 and than I will go back to Page 5 and do the last two rows all the way across to the end of Page 6 and than this project will be completely finished...I am getting so very excited :)

I have come to the conclusion that I just have to wear my ASICS Tennis Shoes with my Orthotics in them.  I get more support from my ASICS Tennis Shoes than I do with my New Balance and I need that support due to having Flat Feet and very tiny feet as well.  I have tried everything this week and nothing has really helped so I have gone back to my ASICS Tennis Shoes and my Orthotics.  My P. T. did take off the one lift for me and that has been helping too.  I just have to stand for few minutes after I get up from sitting.

I have been getting my walking exercise in - I walk up and down my hallway in my Apt Bldg about every hour or so and I walk like 5 or 6 times at a time.  I need to keep my legs strong and my feet strong so they don't get weak and get stiff on me.  My next door neighbor had knee surgery long time ago and when her battery died in her Electric Scooter she walked all the way to the lounge - our hallways are 200 feet long - and she made the comment that since she was walking to and from the lounge her legs were getting stronger and she was using her cane for safety reasons but her legs were getting stronger.  Well as soon as she got her new battery for her electric scooter she went back to riding her electric scooter up and down the hallway.  Now she is getting to the point that she can't hardly walk out the door to get on the senior van.  She is getting weaker all of the time.  I do not want to get to that point at all.  That is why I made up my mind that no matter how bad it hurts when I first start walking I am going to get up and walk up and down the 200 feet long hallway to stay strong.  I use to walk all over my hometown every single day for 2 or 3 hours at a time and I want to be able to get to that point again and that is my goal.  I am not going to give up.  I am bound determine to keep on walking and it doesn't hurt when I am walking...its just getting started at first and than I'm fine.  I can walk pretty fast once I get going.

I went to my Lung Specialist yesterday and knock on wood I have not gotten Tracheobronchitis this year so far and usually I get this in the Spring and in the Fall.  I am on two very strong meds so I don't get it plus they help with my breathing as well.  I don't have to go back to my Lung Specialist til January.  Worst time of the year to be going to a doctor almost an hour away due to Winter Weather.

My friend and I went to JoAnn Fabrics yesterday afternoon and I went in and I bought a Counted Cross Stitch Pattern Magazine called Cross Stitch Collection.  There is a Autumn Scene Pattern in this magazine and when I saw it I just had to have it.  There are other patterns in this magazine that I want to stitch as well.  I bought a whole bunch of DMC Threads since I was running really low.  There was another lady there yesterday that she was buying DMC Threads and she does counted cross stitch as well.

We have been having rain all of this week and cold and than warm and than cold weather...geesh.  Mother Nature can't make up her mind.

Well that is all for now...

Everyone have a Blessed Day

Love & Prayers
God Bless You

  1. RMC looks awesome! Sounds like you have the right attitude about walking and to keep moving. My mom is like your neighbor and she thinks walking the 10 steps from her chair to the bathroom is all the movement she needs. Great news from the lung specialist!

  2. You have a great attitude! :)
I was in a wheel chair in 2011 and then crutches until the beginning of this year.
When I was first put in the wheel chair it hurt way too much to walk and I was told that I'd never walk again. The longer I stayed in the chair, the more pain I felt and the harder it was to walk. Around Christmas 2011 I tried to force myself to walk because I saw my family struggling with the Christmas stress and I wanted to help out. So I forced myself to get up and walk (With crutches though). For the next year I struggled walking completely, struggled around school and ended up missing half of that school year. The next year I was at school for 4 weeks before I couldn't do it anymore. I stopped walking even slightly and let the pain take over. Which, now, I regret because I now have a brain disorder that makes me feel pain 10 times more than it actually is.
The smallest amount of movement counts :)

  3. Sorry to hear about your foot problems. I wear orthotics too and have been getting cortisone shots for almost 3 yrs due to arthritis in the tops of my feet. You are right, we have to keep on moving even though it hurts. I need to focus on my health more which I've neglected the last 6 months.

Your progress on Rocky Mtn Xmas is looking great - that is a huge piece to tackle!

  4. I love to see how you progress on your Rocky Mountain Christmas project. It is looking beautiful.
I think it is good what you are doing - the more you walk the better you will be able to do it.
